Peru

peru01 EM™ was introduced to Peru by alumni of EARTH University, Costa Rica, in 2006. BIOEM, which was organized in Lima by the alumni, controls manufacturing and promoting of EM products. Recently more than 95 % of EM application is in agricultural use in Peru. Also, for poor farming support program as a government project, government of Peru approved EM™ as an organic farming support material, and more than 40,000 farmhouses have been using EM™. EM application in environmental use has started last year and the purification of Lake Titicaca is now ongoing.

Purification project of Lake Titicaca

peru02 Lake Titicaca (area: 8,500 k㎡), one of the highest navigable lakes in the world, is located on the border of Peru and Bolivia. Sludge and sewage from city of Puno pollute and cause massive algae in Lake Titicaca. Then the decomposing algae cause odor problem, which affects tourism industry and fishing business in Puno. In order to solve the problem, Puno province launched an EM™ project to purify the lake with the support of University of Puno.
