EM Supporting Flood Recovery in Poland

After severe floods in Poland, GREENLAND TECHNOLOGIA EM helped restore hygiene and reduce contamination.

Overview

On September 14-16, 2024, more than 400mm of rain fell in southwestern Poland, displacing thousands of people, causing casualties, and leaving about 70,000 without power amidst severe flood alerts.
In response to this disaster, our partner in Poland, GREENLAND TECHNOLOGIA EM, together with EMRO Germany, donated approximately 40,000L of AEM (Activated EM・1) to assist flood-affected communities.
This initiative aimed to mitigate the negative environmental and health impacts caused by the flooding, including odor control and improved hygiene.
The joint efforts of GREENLAND, local teams such as EMformacja and firefighters have played a significant role in the recovery efforts, reaching several communities.
In addition, research and fundraising efforts continue to support long-term recovery while demonstrating the effectiveness of EM Technology in disaster relief.

Problems

– The flooding in southwestern Poland led to:
– Community needs: Many affected homes became breeding grounds for unpleasant odors and potential health hazards.
– Severe environmental contamination: Petroleum-based pollutants and organic waste created health hazards and odors in flooded public spaces.

EM Measurements

EM Product Distribution:
– Initial response: 2,000L of EM・1 was expanded to 40,000L of AEM and donated to cities in need.
– Expansion: Over 20,000L of AEM were sprayed in cities including Lądek-Zdrój, Nysa, Bystrzyca Kłodzka, Kłodzko, and other affected regions.
– Team assistance: GREENLAND cooperated with the Oblas Fire Brigade to carry out large-scale spraying operations using specialized equipment.
Scientific Research:
The Green Gaya Foundation in cooperation with the University of Wrocław and the Afortest Environmental Analysis Laboratory, is conducting research by collecting samples of soil, building walls, and water in a cemetery. The goal is to compare the microbiological state of the flood-affected areas before and after EM spraying.
Preliminary results show significant contamination by petroleum-based substances, with ongoing testing planned through the spring.

Effects and Results

– Environmental impact: Spraying AEM significantly reduces odors and contamination in streets, homes and public areas.
– Community support: Residents benefited from free AEM for individual spraying, improving hygiene and living conditions.
– Research validation: Scientific studies are underway to demonstrate the long-term effectiveness of AEM technology, helping to convince decision-makers of its viability.
– Collaboration success: Partnerships between GREENLAND, EMformacja, local fire brigades and research institutions enabled efficient distribution and application of EM products. Moreover, a successful fundraising campaign was launched to enable further EM supplies and continued research, which will demonstrate that EM Technology has a potential as a sustainable solution for disaster recovery and environmental restoration.
