The Pobsook Recycle Center in Thailand reduces community waste through composting, education, and sustainable waste-sorting practices by adopting EM Technology.

The Pobsook Recycle Center in Pakkret Municipality, Thailand, was founded in 2003 with support from Japan to reduce community waste through composting and waste-sorting education. To solve odor and fly problems, the center adopted EM Technology, using EM Bokashi and Activated EM・1 to improve composting, water treatment, and fertilizer quality. It also provides training for residents, students, officials, and international guests to promote sustainable waste management and environmental awareness.
EM Composting Process
The composting start as follows:
Collection & weighing
-Organic household waste is collected daily from 9:00–11:00 and weighed.
-Mixing with EM Bokashi
Waste is mixed with EM Bokashi (called Pobsook 50).
-The mixture is placed in the composting machine for 24 hours to ferment.
Cooling
-After fermentation, the compost is removed and spread out on a pan to cool down.
-Starter for next batch
One part of the fermented compost is left in the machine to kickstart the next batch.
Drying & Testing
-The compost is dried, packed, and tested for NPK (nutrient content).

Using fertilizer produced at the Pobsook Recycle Center

Applying Activated EM・1 and EM Mudballs to the nearby canal

The center produces its own EM soap

The Civil Engineering Department of Pak Kret Municipality used it in the Durian Orchard Conservation Project in Nonthaburi.

EM fertilizers are used in nearby flower fields
