EM Trial: Evaluating Impact on Banana, Tomato, and Pomegranate

EM Technology boosted growth, yield, and disease resistance in banana, tomato, and pomegranate crops in India.

Trial Overview

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Baramati, a Farm Science Center in India, conducted a trial to assess the impact of EM (Effective Microorganisms) products on the growth, yield, and disease resistance of banana, tomato, and pomegranate, comparing the results with conventional farming practices.

Trial Results

・Effect of EM Technology on Growth and Yield of Banana Crop
For banana crops, there was a significant increase in plant height and bunch weight, with a significant reduction in common diseases such as Sigatoka and fruit rot.
Yield was 5.7 t/acre higher than that of conventional farmers practice.

・Effect of EM Technology on Growth and Yield of Tomato Crop
In tomatoes, EM treated plants showed improved branching, flowering, and fruiting, as well as resistance to bacterial spots, wilt, Fusarium and other diseases.
Yield was 1.75 t/acre higher than that of conventional farmers’ practice

・Effect of EM Technology on Pomegranate
Results from the trial show that the average incidence of oily spot infection on plants, leaves and fruit is 12.79% in Treatment “T5”, the lowest of all treatments. In addition, the net return for Treatment “T5” is the highest at INR541,057/ha, outperforming all other treatments.
